The Gnosall Library Group (GLEAN; Gnosall Library - Education and Nurture) is progressing well with its bid to set up a new Community Library. GLEAN has established a constituted committee and currently liaising with the Parish Council and other local projects to create a new community charity to support the venture.
A business Plan is nearly completed and will be submitted before the end of July. As with all 23 other libraries downgraded to volunteer-managed (as part of recent Staffordshire County Council cuts), GLEAN has to bid the County Council for the contract to run the new facility.
Unlike other libraries, Gnosall is also in the complicated position of having to find new premises following the development of the new school. The favoured location is to share the new Youth Club building with an additional portakabin added for extra space for both groups. GLEAN is currently in negotiations with the County Council over the costs for this arrangement.
