Baby Bounce and Rhyme

4560 (Image)Hello Fellow Library Volunteers

I am hoping to start a BABYBOUNCE and RHYME group for 0-3 year olds as part of our Community Library activities and am looking for other volunteers who might be interested. My initial thoughts are to run a 30 minute session on a fortnightly basis on Tuesday morning (probably the 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month) between 11 and 11.30am. The sessions would take place in the Youth Club area and hopefully Mums/ Dads/Grans would stop afterwards to enjoy a drink, chat and also visit the Library to choose books with the children. We have been allocated funds for resources such as hand puppets and simple percussion instruments.

Each session would need to be run by two library volunteers so I am looking for at least 3 other volunteers so that we can cover absences and each commit to doing one session per month initially.

Stafford Library run a Babybounce session on Saturday mornings so I am arranging to attend a session to get a clearer idea of exactly what to do. However, the basic requirements are an interest in helping babies / toddlers to enjoy rhymes and actions; a knowledge of nursery rhymes and songs; and the ability to sing along (sessions are usually run without backing music!) Use the link below to read about sessions run by Staffordshire Libraries.

I look forward to hearing from you,
